abstract

the aim of this study was to determine the effect of resistance training for 10 weeks on muscle strength, lean body mass, serum myostatin, and insulin resistance in obese-overweight men. seventeen obsess-overweight men(age:=43.1±4.7 yr, body mass index = 29.1±2.17 kg/m2) participated in the study the subjects were randomly assigned to resistance training (n=9) and control (n=8) groups. resistance training was performed 3 times weekly for 10 weeks. body composition, metabolic parameters, and myostatin were measured prior to and after the intervention. after a 10 week resistance training, insulin resistance index (homa-ir) was significantly decreased (p0.05). also, following the resistance training, muscle strength and lean body mass were significantly increased (p

Effect of progressive resistance training on insulin resistance and plasma adiponectin concentration in overweight men.

Background and objectives: The purpose of the present study was to examine the effect of a progressive resistance-training program beside an energy deficit diet on body Composition, insulin resistance and plasma adiponectin levels in overweight adult men. Methods: Twenty-five overweight men (age =32.1 ± 4.3 years, BMI =28.9 ± 1.3 kg.m-2) were randomly assigned into one of the two groups: resis...

Effect of 8 week resistance training on adiponectin, Insulin resistance, insulin sensivity and HbA1c levels in overweight men

Introduction Physical activity is the most important factors of energy consumption in humans. Since energy absorption can regulated the adiponectin expression positively or negatively. Also, altering energy consumption with exercise may affect the adiponectin levels. Therefore, the present study aimed to the effect of 8 weeks resistance training on adiponectin, insulin hemostasis and HbA1c lev...

the effect of aerobic training and green tea supplement on serum leptin and insulin resistance in overweight and obese men

the aim of the present study was to examine the effect of aerobic training and green tea supplementation on serum leptin and insulin resistance in overweight and obese men. for this purpose, 43 overweight and obese men were selected voluntarily and were included in four groups: control (body mass index 31.4+3.7, vo2max 39.3+3.8 ml/kg.min), green tea supplement (body mass index, 30.3±2.8 k/m2, v...

Twelve-week resistance training decreases myostatin level and improves insulin sensitivity in overweight-obese women

Myostatin is a secreted protein that acts as a potent inhibitor of skeletal muscle growth. Inactivation of myostatin increases muscle mass and decreases insulin resistance. The aim of this study was to determine if the improvement in insulin resistance after resistance training is associated with a decline in serum levels of myostatin. A sample of 19 obese-overweight women (age= 23.2±3.4 yr, bo...

The Effect of Short Term Aerobic Training on Serum Insulin and Insulin Resistance in Adult Obese Females

Objective: Obesity is associated with inflammatory process and many different diseases. The objective of this study was to assess the impact of short term aerobic training on serum resistin and insulin resistance in adult obese women. Materials and Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, thirty untrained adult obese females matched for age 35-45 years old with body mass index (BMI) 30-36 kg...

The Effect of Aerobic and Resistance Exercises on Serum Osteocalcin levels, Insulin Resistance and Pancreas Beta Cell Function in Overweight Men: A Clinical Trial

Background and Objectives: Osteocalcin plays an important role in stimulating of insulin secretion from pancreatic β-cells. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the effect of aerobic and resistance exercises on serum osteocalcin, insullin resistance and beta cells function in overweight men. Materials and Methods: In this clinical trial study conducted in Ahar in summer 2018, 40 ove...
